In 2021, the Foundation is offering a general scholarship of up to $3,500 to graduating high school seniors, who meet one of the following criteria: 1) have been involved in either the Music, Art, or the Performing Arts program at their high school or in the community; 2) have contributed to the community through volunteer work or community service; or 3) are pursuing a career outside of the traditional college track to include enrollment in a trade or technical school. To be eligible, the student must be a resident of the City of Westlake Village and have plans to attend a four-year university, a community college or arts college, or trade or technical school in the coming year. The award is to help in covering expenses related to the student’s continuing education.
The application form must be completed and submitted by interested seniors. Members of the Foundation will review these applications and interview applicants prior to final selection.
The scholarships will be awarded based on either excellence in Music, Arts or Performing Arts programs at the students’ high school or in the community; and/or significant contribution to the community through volunteer work or community service; and/or a compelling statement about the desire to pursue a career outside of the traditional college track by attending a trade or technical school. Criteria will include years of involvement and level of accomplishment in music, arts or the performing arts, and/or volunteer work and community service, or participation in a career technical education course at the local high school or outside educational courses. Other factors will include academic achievement, school service, compelling statement, interview and financial need.
Applications are due by Friday May 14, 2021.
