As the 2021-22 school year is fast approaching, we would like to share some very important news regarding the Westlake Village Transit Program, the City’s school bus program. The City Council has approved the necessary funding to continue the operation of the bus program for this upcoming school year. However, the City’s bus program operator, Durham Transportation, which is the same operator that provides LVUSD bus services is facing their own challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Durham is experiencing difficulty rehiring the necessary number of qualified bus drivers to fully staff the City’s bus routes. This means that there is a very real possibility that the City’s school bus program may be impacted even though the funding has been restored for the upcoming school year.
Please join us for a community meeting where City staff will provide an update on the bus program and share information about possible modified bus routes that would require fewer buses. The community meeting will take place virtually via Zoom on Thursday, July 29th at 6pm.
