Fair Housing & Housing Assistance

The City of Westlake Village is committed to ensuring that current and prospective residents are treated fairly under housing laws and that housing assistance and resources are available to those in need. Please take advantage of the housing resources listed below and on the Fair Housing and Housing Assistance Resources handout.

Housing Rights Center

The Housing Rights Center (HRC) is a nonprofit civil rights organization dedicated to securing and promoting fair housing. Westlake Village residents should contact HRC with any questions about tenant-landlord rights, illegal housing practices, rent increases, evictions, and fair housing laws.

HRC provides free weekly workshops that teach out fair housing laws, how to spot illegal housing practices, and tenant-landlord issues. Learn more and register here.

North Los Angeles County Regional Center

The North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC) is one of 21 private, non-profit organizations under contract with the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to coordinate and provide community-based services to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Disability Community Resource Center

The Disability Community Resource Center (DCRC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting people with disabilities and seniors to achieve and maintain self-directed and community-based independent lives.

Los Angeles County Development Authority

The Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) administers a variety housing programs including Section 8 tenant-based housing assistance, public and affordable housing, homebuyer programs, and home improvement loan and grant programs.

Los Angeles County Housing Resource Center

The Los Angeles County Housing Resource Center is a community resource to help people find housing in Los Angeles County including affordable, special needs, and emergency housing. The center also provides resources for homeowners and homebuyers.

State of California Civil Rights Department

The California Civil Rights Department publishes guides and fact sheets in multiple languages with information on a variety of fair housing issues.
