The Planning Department reviews all improvements to ensure compliance with the Westlake Village Zoning Code prior to the issuance of a building permit.

How do I obtain a Zoning Clearance?
- Prepare plans or drawings of work to be completed. For new roofs, exterior colors, or exterior finishes, provide manufacturer specification sheets or provide the brand and color/material name and/or catalog number.
- For residential projects, obtain approval from your homeowners association.
- Use the online application form to upload your plans and proof of homeowner association approval (residential projects only), or email your documents to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Pay the application fee by mailing a check for $50 made payable to "City of Westlake Village" to Planning Department, 31200 Oak Crest Drive, Westlake Village, CA 91361. In the memo field on the check, write "Zoning Clearance" and the property address.
