Westlake Village Transit

Fall 2021 update - anticipated Service impacts

As the 2021-22 school year is fast approaching, we would like to share some very important news regarding the Westlake Village Transit Program, the City’s school bus program. The City Council has approved the necessary funding to continue the operation of the bus program for this upcoming school year. However, the City’s bus program operator, Durham Transportation, which is the same operator that provides LVUSD bus services is facing their own challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Durham is experiencing difficulty rehiring the necessary number of qualified bus drivers to fully staff the City’s bus routes. This means that there is a very real possibility that the City’s school bus program may be impacted even though the funding has been restored for the upcoming school year.

new routes: 2021-22 School Year

In anticipation of the City's bus program being impacted by a shortage of drivers; the City is preparing for the likely implementation of a new 3 route bus program. This new 3 route program has been studied and developed by R & D Transportation Services in partnership with the Las Virgenes Unified School District to ensure an efficient program that maintains as many stops as possible, keeps ride times reasonable, and incorporates some of the same principles used in the School Districts other routes. It's the City's hope that the bus program will be able to operate with this new streamlined approach this year; however, we encourage parents to continue to explore alternate plans for transportation in the event that Durham is unable to provide the necessary number of drivers. Bus pass fees will be fully refunded if the buses/route you purchase a pass for does not operate.
