Landscape and Streetscape Improvements

As part of a long-range master plan, 20010-11 will see the City continue to reinvest in its infrastructure, particularly in the area of roadways and streetscapes described below:

Lindero Channel Improvements

Project Description:

Phases I & II- Construct approximate 1900 feet of new fencing along the flood control channel between Agoura Road and Foxfield Drive.  This work will also include new vine planting and trenching for new irrigation lines along the entire length of the new fence to encourage vine growth in the former maintenance roadway, and modifications to the existing irrigation system.  Total budget for this work is $233,000.

New Irrigation Controlers

The City began implementing a City-Wide, centrally controlled irrigation control system in 2007.  The implementation is in the fourth year of a five year implementation plan.  The total budget for this work is $130,000.

Westlake Village Community Park

Representing a collaborative effort involving the Triunfo YMCA and the Canyon Oaks Homeowner’s Association, this approved project is currently under the first phase of construction. Construction of the above-ground improvements for the second phase will follow, although it has currently not been determined when that will occur as the City will be seeking additional funding opportunities through grants and fund-raising activities to offset overall project costs.

The work this fiscal year will include the completion of the site, development phase including installation of underground utilities, pump stations, the perimeter slope landscape and irrigation, and access road paving improvements.  With site development work continuing this fiscal year, design of future park facilities will also begin this fiscal year.  The overall park budget for this fiscal year is $5,810,800.

The budget for the first phase of the project is $5,810,800.

Lindero Canyon Road Corridor Improvements o Canyon Road Corridor Improvements

This project consists of three phases of work; the first phase, northbound freeway ramp improvements, has been completed. Phase two, freeway overpass bridge improvements, is scheduled to go to construction later this fiscal year; and phase three, Lindero Canyon Road and Agoura Road intersection, is scheduled to go to construction in the summer of 2010.  The project consists of the following: (Phase 1) widening for a second northbound on-ramp lane next to the new Four Seasons Hotel and extension of the auxiliary lane adjacent to the freeway; and (Phase 2) realignment of the travel lanes on the overpass and addition of an additional southbound lane; (Phase 3) improvements at the Lindero-Agoura Road intersection resulting in a second westbound right turn lane and a second eastbound left turn lane.  The budget for this fiscal year is $6,037,130.

Annual Street Maintenance Work

As part of the City’s on-going road resurfacing program, Lakeview Canyon Road from Lindero Canyon Road to the northern City limits and Russell Ranch Road will have a slurry seal coat applied in spring or early summer of 2011

The budget for this program is $269,700.
