Mayor Philippa Klessig
Elected: 2003, 2007 Term Ends: 2011

Philippa Klessig was elected for a four-year term to serve as a member of the
Westlake Village City Council on November 4, 2003, and took her oath of
office December 6, 2003. In December 2006, Philippa was selected to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. In November, 2007, Philippa was elected to her second four-year term, and was subsequently selected to serve as Mayor in 2008.
Philippa has a strong business background in starting new businesses and helping
run existing operations. She has worked in management as owner, founder, and partner,
as well as in operations, human resources and print production. Looking for a new and
less hectic career she recently went back to school and completed studies as a landscape
designer.
While being active in the business world, Philippa has also donated countless hours to her
community, Las Virgenes Schools, and to the City of Westlake Village. Philippas involvement
in this community began in 1989 when she and her husband Karl and daughter Calla moved to
Westlake Village from Sherman Oaks. Besides her council activities, she is still active as a:
- Board Member, Mary Health 100 Club, Mary Health of the Sick, Convalescent and Nursing Hospital
- Committee Member, Symphony of Wine/ New West Symphony
- Committee Member, Westlake Yacht Club Charity Regatta
- Tutor, Conejo Valley Adult School Literacy Program
Philippa holds a BA in Psychology graduating from the University of California at Santa
Barbara 1972, Magna Cum Laude and credentials as a Landscape Designer from Pierce Community
College, 2003.
